Mnet Asian Music Awards Announces Nominees for Award Show
The Mnet Asian Music Awards has finally released its list of nominees for the 2020 awards show. The 22nd year of the awards show will be quite different this year as it will be held only in South Korea.
In previous years, it has also held awarding ceremonies in different countries such as Japan and Hong Kong. This year's show will be held on December 6 and will be held virtually with the theme "NEW-TOPIA."
A few of the major (Daesang) awards given include Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Worldwide Icon of the Year. Here are some of the nominees in different categories:
Best Male Group: EXO, GOT7, NCT, Monsta X, BTS, Seventeen
Best Female Group: Blackpink, Twice, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, IZ*ONE, Oh My Girl
Best New Male Artist: Cravity, MCND, TOO, Treasure, WEi
The other nominees are available to watch on their YouTube account.
The final winners for each category are determined by several factors. In Artist of the Year and other artist categories the criteria is as follows: 30% from online votes, 30% from the panel of judges, and 20% each for digital and physical album sales. The Worldwide Fans' Choice Top 10 meanwhile relies on 20% social media votes, 20% global music video views, and 60% official votes.
