Hulu Defends 'Parasite' Amid Complaints of Reading Subtitles
Hulu began streaming the smash hit film "Parasite" on April 8. However, some Twitter users had some complaints about reading English subtitles on the Korean-language film. Hulu had a few words for them.
"It's not in English, no one wants to watch a movie that they literally have to read to understand what's going on," one Twitter posted.
Hulu came in defense of the film, which broke records as the first non-English language film to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards in February.
"if you don't want to read subtitles, you can always learn Korean!," Hulu posted from their official Twitter account.
Another user called the award-winning film "Pathetic," to which Hulu replied: "it won.... four oscars......"
The film's official Twitter also replied to a comment about "Parasite" being "pathetic." They said "Or as we like to call it, "BEST PICTURE."
"Parasite" director, Bong Jong-ho, also won the award for Best Director at the Academy Awards and the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
"Parasite" is a film not to be missed. Check it out on Hulu or for rent or purchase on YouTube, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, or Vudu.
