Korean singer-songwriter IU has been trending online after Netflix has confirmed the world premiere of her short film series. The experimental four-part series, titled Persona, is set to be released by the streaming service in April.

Persona is will feature the different persona of IU. A couple of it are inspired by IU's music while others are by the directors' personal experiences.

Each film was directed by different directors. Korean filmmakers Lim Pil Sung, Lee Kyung Mi, Kim Jong Kwan, and Jeon Go Woon took their personal and unique approach to showcase the various personas of the singer-actress.

Lim's film tells the story of an attracting woman who can make any man give up his entire life for her. Lee's masterpiece, on the other hand, is about a tennis match between two female players. Kim's short film is a love story of a couple who got separated and meet again in their dreams. Finally, Jeon's film features two girls who vow to take revenge.

IU stars in all of the films, playing different characters. Each film will also have different cast members.

Fans took to social media to expressed their excitement over IU's Persona on Netflix. Many have said that it is about time that IU will also be known across the globe.

"Wow, this should be very intriguing to watch! IU is a very captivating and talented artist, so it should be very interesting to see how the films portray the different sides of her artistry, and how the directors weave their own stories into her personas," a fan commented.

It is not surprising that Netflix decided to release IU's short films worldwide. The singer is one, if not the most, popular solo Korean artist today. According to Quartz, IU has dominated K-pop for the last decade and has outranked BIGBANG, Girls' Generation, and BTS as the Korean act with the most digital No. 1 in South Korea since 2010.

Aside from being a chart-topping singer, IU has proven that she can act really well. She had received several nominations and won top awards for her impressive acting. The most recent was Top Excellence Award for Actress in a Miniseries at the 2018 APAN Star Awards for her role in My Mister.

Meanwhile, aside from Persona, IU fans can also look forward to her upcoming K-drama alongside The Crowned Clown actor Yeo Jin Goo. It has been confirmed that the two will lead star the upcoming tvN fantasy drama Hotel del Luna. The "Bbibbi" hitmaker will play the role of the hotel CEO who is ill-tempered and greedy and has been under a curse because of her misdeed. Hotel del Luna is expected to premiere in August 2019.
