There will be more medical dramas to watch for Grey's Anatomy fans as ABC has ordered three more episodes for Season 15, bringing the total number of order to 25. This marks another milestone for the show.

The news about the additional episodes comes just hours after former Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh became the first actress of Asian descent to win multiple Golden Globe awards. The supersized announcement was also made after the series ranked No. 1 for the 2018-19 broadcast season of ABC.

Grey's Anatomy Season 15 currently holds an average rating of 3.1 among the 18-49 demographic. It also consistently ranks among the most binged series on streaming.

However, a 25-episode season is not new for Grey's. This is the third time the medical drama has 25 or more episodes. Season 2 still has the most number of episodes with 27. Nonetheless, it is still a milestone for the show as very few TV series have reached the status it has now.

Additionally, Grey's has already tied with NBC's E.R. as the longest-running primetime medical drama ever with 15 seasons apiece. The Ellen Pompeo-led series will soon surpass the record of E.R. as the longest-running medical drama based on the number of episodes. By the end of the current broadcast season, Grey's have aired 342 hour-long episodes while E.R. wrapped up its 15th season in 2009 with 331 episodes aired.

Meanwhile, Grey's Anatomy Season 15 will return from its midseason hiatus on January 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Viewers will finally have answers to several cliffhangers the series left back in November. The condition of other doctors and interns of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital will finally be revealed after some of them get trapped to different places due to the windstorm.

It would also interesting to see how Owen (Kevin McKidd), Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), and Teddy (Kim Raver) resolve their situation after it was revealed that the latter is pregnant of Owen's baby. What will happen to his newly-rekindle romance with Amelia?

And finally, will Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) be able to get out of the elevator and get to Cece for the heart transplant before things between her and Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) get steamy. The teaser for Episode 9 suggests that the two will get very intimate while they are stuck in the elevator.
