2018 KBS Song Festival Updates: GOT7's Mark To Skip The Event, TWICE's Mina To Rejoin Bandmates, & Festival Explains Cue Sheet Leak
GOT7 member Mark will be skipping the upcoming activities of his band due to a leg injury. K-pop fans will miss Mark on Friday's 2018 KBS Song Festival in Seoul but will see TWICE member Mina again on stage.
JYP Entertainment has released a statement informing the fans of GOT7 that Mark will not be able to attend the upcoming official activities of the band because of a leg injury. The agency, however, did not elaborate on how Mark got injured.
Aside from the annual KBS Song Festival on December 28, Mark will also not joining his bandmates in their fan on December 29 and the 2018 MBC Gayo Daejejun on New Year's Eve. According to JYP, they have reached the decision not to let Mark perform after his doctor recommended that the singer should minimize his movements, take some rest, and focus on his recovery.
"We apologize for causing concern, and we will do our best to aid Mark in his recovery as we place our artist's health above all else," the agency added (via Soompi).
Meanwhile, Mark's labelmate and TWICE member Mina will be backed on stage at the 2018 KBS Song Festival. The female K-pop idol missed out the live broadcast of the recent 2018 SBS Song Festival due to illness.
In addition to TWICE's group performances at the 2018 KBS Song Festival, JYP Nation also prepares a special stage of its artists that will attend the event including GOT7. The 2018 KBS Song Festival is set to broadcast live on December 28 at 8:30 p.m. KST. It will be hosted by EXO's Chanyeol, BTS's Jin, and TWICE's Dahyun.
Meanwhile, the festival has also addressed the issue regarding the leak of its cue sheet. Photos of the festival's entire cue sheet were shared in social media on Thursday. Apparently, this "demoralized" some of the artists who will attend the event.
The production team of the 2018 KBS Song Festival explained that the cue sheet was illegally leaked during their rehearsals on Thursday. The team appeals to the public to delete or not to reshare the leaked photos.
"This cue sheet was leaked illegally, and this is demoralizing for the artists who have worked over many nights to prepare great performances. As a lot of devotion was put into preparing this event, in order for everyone to enjoy it on the day of, we request for the 2018 KBS Song Festival performance information and order that are being leaked via online communities and social media to no longer be leaked again and for the contents to be deleted," the organizers stated (via Soompi).
It appears that the cue sheet indicates that EXO will be the final act to perform for the night. BTS will hit the stage before the SM Entertainment boy group.
Many K-pop fans, however, don't see the leak as a big issue. Some stated that the sequence of appearance on stage doesn't matter as long as they will see their favorite artists and enjoy their performances.
