BTS To Hit 'America's Got Talent' Stage; Fans Express Excitement Over Bangtan Boys & Simon Cowell First Meeting
The hashtag #BTSonAGT has been trending worldwide since it has been officially announced that the Korean boy band will appear in America's Got Talent next week. The NBC reality TV show and its personalities have confirmed the BTS appearance.
During the recent episode of AGT, host Tyra Banks announced that BTS will be "heating up the stage" of America's Got Talent with their latest hit single "IDOL." The Korean group will perform on the second semifinals result show on September 12. AGT judge Howie Mandel also tweeted the good news.
The Bangtan Boys appearance on AGT would mean the group would finally meet Simon Cowell, the man behind the creation of the one of the most successful boy band in history: One Direction. Many fans are excited to see what would be Cowell's reaction on BTS members and the boys' performance as a whole. Cowell is also the creator of AGT.
"Mr. Cowell watching @BTS_twt take over the @AGT stage next week. I really wanna see Simon with heart eyes watching our boys perform," a fan wrote.
"Miss @tyrabanks getting her reunion with @BTS_twt. We want interactions with Mr. @SimonCowell as well pleaseee... This is going to be lit!" another fan shared on Twitter.
Many international artists have already admitted that they are certified members of the Army, the BTS's fan group name. The latest in the list are Simon's fellow English celebrities Ed Sheeran and 1D member Liam Payne.
Meanwhile, if this is the first meeting for BTS and Cowell, it would be a reunion for Tyra Banks and the boys. Earlier this year, the America's Next Top Model creator did her famous "smize" with the BTS members during the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. Banks shared on Twitter a GIF of the said moment to celebrate Korean boy band's special guest appearance in AGT.
Banks earlier hinted about her possible reunion with Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook when she gave a special shout-out ahead of the septet's U.S. leg of their world tour. The BTS' appearance on AGT came amidst reports that the famous K-pop group had turned down media appearances and interviews during their concert tour in the US.
BTS is currently in America for their Love Yourself world tour. Their first stop is the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on September 5-9. The group will also perform at Citi Field for their fans in New York on October 6. Meanwhile, The "Fake Love" hit makers' appearance on America's Got Talent is set on September 12 at 8 EDT/PDT while the grand finale will be on September 19.
