'Outlander' Season 4 Actor Sam Heughan Hints Interest In Playing James Bond
Sam Heughan once again dipped his toe to the buzz on who should be the next James Bond. The Outlander actor thanked fans who voted for him in an online poll asking about whom they want to watch as Daniel Craig's replacement.
If Heughan is not in earlier polls of actors who are favored to play the iconic character, the Just Jared survey shows a different story. The Spy Who Dumped Me actor leads the entertainment site's week-long fan poll. The site recently compiled a list of some of the hottest actors across the globe whom fans believe should pick up the James Bond mantle.
Heughan is at the No.1 spot with a whopping 261,530 votes out of 575,890 votes. The Night Manager actor Tom Hiddleston came in second place with a total of 228,830 votes. Beauty And The Beast star Luke Evans came in the far third spot with 22,467. Justice League actor Henry Cavill is at fourth spot while Avengers: Infinity War star Idris Elba is at No. 5.
In response, Heughan retweeted the result of the poll and thanked those who voted for him. But the Outlander actor also teased about playing the role which makes the heart of his fans flutter.
"Thank you. Please ask Daniel [Craig] to leave the keys to the Aston inside, once he's done," Heughan tweeted in reference to Bond's signature car.
Fans quickly flooded the actor's post of James Bond memes, photos of Heughan in a tuxedo, and clips of him driving the James Bond's Aston Martin car. Some commented that Heughan could bring back the Scottish touch in the 007 character.

Caitriona Balfe's onscreen husband earlier admitted that he would be honored if he will be chosen to portray any role in a Bond movie. Then he added what he wants in the movie in case he was picked to play the iconic character. Heughan said he would like a much bigger and faster car and a lot more suits.
"[But] if I were going to play Bond, I'd ask for a much faster car! [Laughs] A bigger, faster car, and a whole lot more suits. A whole wardrobe!" he told Thrillist Entertainment in an interview.
For now, James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has yet to confirm a name or even a short list of actors that are being considered as Craig's replacement. The audition for the James Bond role is not happening until 2020 as Craig will still portray the role for his fifth and final outing. The upcoming 007 movie, titled Bond 25, is scheduled for release on October 2019.
