‘Child’s Play’ TV Series Air Date: Scary Chucky Is Coming To TV

Creator and producer of the Child's Play horror movies Don Mancini recently announced on Twitter that a TV series of the cult hit is officially in the works. The franchise, which was first introduced in 1988, features a possessed doll named Chucky who is being controlled by a serial killer. The evil doll has starred in seven movies all in all, and rumor has it more is to come. At some point, there were talks about a crossover with A Nightmare on Elm Street.

With the development of the Child's Play TV series, however, it is impossible to tell if the supposed sequels will happen. One thing is for sure though -- horror fans will definitely see Chucky on their TV screens soon.

The Return of the Psychopath Doll

Back in February, it was reported that a series was in the pipeline from Mancini and producer David Kirschner. Mancini's tweet seals the deal on the return of the possessed doll, this time on television.

According to the creator, the film's story arc will continue with the TV series. This makes the whole project unique, given that most big screen to small screen crossovers have always relied on story changes.

Horror Fans, Delight!

The Child's Play have been patronized by fans for three decades, and although not all movies earned positive reviews, Chucky has already been cemented in every horror fanatic's mind.

It wasn't until the release of the Curse of Chucky that the franchise started to regain positive reviews, with critics saying that the franchise finally returned to its horror roots. The most recent addition to the series, Cult of Chucky, had a Blu-ray release and was also received positively by both fans and critics.

Brad Dourif and Jeniffer Tilly, who lent their voices to play Chucky and his bride Tiffany, are reportedly going to return. Other cast members are yet to be announced by Mancini.

While writing for feature films, Mancini has also done work for TV. His name appears as a writer for several episodes of Channel Zero, and one episode of Hannibal.
