NCIS Season 16 is definitely coming. It is now a big question if CBS is going to add new characters to fill the void left by Pauley Perrette and Duane Henry's exits. Will fans see additional characters coming to the police procedural drama's new installment?

According to CarterMatt, there is a big possibility new characters will be seen in NCIS Season 16. The show's producers and writers might now be thinking of a way to introduce new roles that will replace Pauley Perrette. In fact, they may have started with Kasie's (Diona Reasonover) coming in the previous season.

It is not yet confirmed if the 26-year-old actress's role as the new forensic scientist will be a mainstay in the show, but Kasie's appearance seemed to be accepted by fans. Could she replace Abby (Pauley Perrette) in NCIS Season 16? Also, there could be a big chance that the producers will fill the void left by Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry). However, as his character didn't really appear in every episode, it might not be necessary to replace him—especially since he is not playing a major role like Abby.

Meanwhile, with NCIS Season 16's announcement comes Mark Harmon's new deal. The 66-year-old star just signed a new deal to continue playing the role of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He, too, will remain to be the show's executive producer, per TVLine.

Aside from Mark Harmon, the television series' veteran actor David McCallum will also return to NCIS Season 16 to reprise his role as NCIS Chief Medical Examiner Donald "Ducky" Mallard, Deadline reported. The 85-year-old star recently closed a good deal to return to the CBS drama. However, because of his age, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. star will have a lesser workload. This way, he could spend more time with his family—his wife of 50 years, Katherine, their children, six grandchildren, and their cat named Nickie.

As Pauley Perrette already left in the previous season, Mark Harmon and David McCallum are the only remaining original characters fans will see in NCIS Season 16. Except for Perrette, other stars of the show are expected to return. The CBS police procedural drama is expected to be released next fall.
