2PM's Nichkhun To Explore 'Mars' In New A Show Along With Gugudan's Kim Sejeong
2PM member Nichkhun has been confirmed to join the cast of tvN's upcoming variety show, Galileo: Awakened Universe. Nichkhun will be joining comedian Kim Byung Man, actress Ha Ji Won, and Gugudan member Kim Sejeong who were earlier announced to star in the reality show.
Galileo: Awakened Universe is a sci-fi show that explores life on Mars. The celebrity cast members will spend time at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in Utah, which has a simulated environment of the planet Mars.
The cast will experience life as inhabitants of planet Mars for a week. Galileo: Awakened Universe aims to give viewers a perspective about life on other planets and the fun of exploration.
The reality show's team will be led by Kim Byung Man who is a veteran when it comes to survival shows. Kim has been a regular cast member of SBS's The Law of the Jungle since 2011. He tests his survival instinct in most challenging environments around the world, even behind the camera. Kim recently explored the South Pole.
Ha Ji Won is among the leading Hallyu stars today. She starred in several popular dramas including Secret Garden, Empress Ki, and Hospital Ship. Apparently, she was cast to the show because of her great interest in outer space. Gugudan's Sejeong, on the other hand, is part of the new show Busted!
As for Nichkhun, he recently starred in the hit Thai film Brother of the Year. The Thai-American singer also appeared in the second season of variety show We Got Married where he was paired with f(x)'s Victoria.
The filming for Galileo: Awakened Universe will begin next month. It is scheduled to premiere in mid-July. Meanwhile, fans are thrilled to see Nichkhun on a TV show again. Many missed the K-pop singer since he and 2PM took a break from the spotlight. Others wish that the other members of 2PM will also join Nichkhun.
2PM released their sixth studio album Gentlemen's Game in September 2016. It was the K-pop group's album before some of them began their military enlistment.
Earlier this year, the five members of 2PM—Jun.K, Nichkhun, Wooyoung, Junho, and Chansung—renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment. They were also appointed as directors of the agency as they are the most senior K-pop group in the company. Taecyeon is still currently serving in the military. He will discuss a contract renewal with JYP once he finishes his military service.
