‘Rick and Morty’ Season 4 Release Date, News & Update: Cartoon Network Animated Series Is Not Happening Anytime Soon Despite 70-Episode Order
Rick and Morty Season 4 is finally up for 70 more episodes! The fourth installment of the Cartoon Network animated series has long been thought as a done deal, considering the fact that the American adult animated science fiction comedy series is one of the most watched shows in the network. However, despite the confirmation of the show's renewal, the series may not be happening in the near future.
Rick and Morty creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon took to social media to confirm that Rick and Morty Season 4 is finally official. Roiland shared on Twitter a drawing of the two main characters talking about having “70 more adventures” to come. Harmon, on the other hand, took a different approach in sharing the good news. He posted a funny clip on Instagram of him and his co-creator in the shower, discussing how much they needed to go back to work fast.
The 70-episode order of Rick and Morty Season 4 is enough reason for avid fans to rejoice. However, given the unusual production and release schedule of the series, it is safe to say that viewers shouldn’t expect to see the fourth installment of the Cartoon Network animates series on the small screen anytime soon.

Unlike other shows, Rick and Morty doesn't have a fixed timeline on when it will release a new season. In fact, Rick and Morty Season 2 arrived 15 months after the first one ended, and Rick and Morty Season 3 was released April of last year after the second season ended in 2015. Since it’s quite clear that the Cartoon Network series doesn’t air yearly, the hopes of seeing Rick and Morty Season 4 this year might remain wishful thinking.

Meanwhile, before Rick and Morty Season 4 was even officially picked up, it was already believed that it would arrive sometime in 2019. Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon are known for taking their time and not rushing things, so a 2019 release date appears to be an ideal timeline.
However, there is also the possibility that the crew will work double time to squeeze Rick and Morty Season 4 in before the year ends. Until the official update is finally announced, fans will just have to be contented with the confirmation of Rick and Morty Season 4 for now.
