‘Rick and Morty’ Season 4 Release Date, News & Update: Creator Reveals Real Status Of Cartoon Network Animated Series
Rick And Morty Season 3 may have just wrapped up, but with the success of the animated show, fans have already anticipated that Rick And Morty Season 4 is already a done deal. However, co-creator Dan Harmon revealed that starting the fourth installment is not as easy as it sounds. In fact, there is a chance that it may not even happen at all.
Rick And Morty is arguably one of the most successful Cartoon Network animated series to date, which is why making Rick And Morty Season 4 just makes a lot of sense. Although Dan Harmon had previously confirmed its existence when he told Entertainment Weekly that he’s “about to do season 4 of Rick and Morty and want to prove that I’ve grown,” it seems that he still has to wait for the go-signal to finally make it official.
Despite his earlier revelation, Dan Harmon took his statement back when a fan told him on Twitter to hurry up and finish Rick And Morty Season 4. The wacky animated series’ co-creator then replied that it’s quite hard to “write a show that hasn’t been ordered by a network.”
Dan Harmon’s response confirmed that Rick And Morty Season 4 is still not a done deal, and Cartoon Network still has the last say to either push through for a fourth installment or not. Right now, it appears that Rick And Morty Season 4 is not happening anytime soon.
In fact, Mr. Poopybutthole already warned the fans in a post-credit in the Rick And Morty Season 3 finale that they will not see Rick And Morty Season 4 in the near future. The character, who is a long-time family friend of the Smith Family, announced that the fourth season might not be happening for a “really long time.”
Also, Adult Swim’s tweet last October 2017 about Rick And Morty Season 4 was identical to Mr. Poopybutthole’s announcement. The Cartoon Network’s adult-oriented nighttime programming block noted at the time, “See you for Season Four in like a really long time #RickandMorty.”
On top of that, Rick and Morty’s official Twitter account also said the same thing about the wait that fans had to do for Rick And Morty Season 4. The last part of the tweet said, "This will be the last new episode for a while, so gather your loved ones and squanch your hearts out.”
However, despite Rick And Morty Season 4 not yet being ordered by Cartoon Network, its success is just undeniable that it will be a ridiculous decision for the company to end it at Season 3. Although there is still no official Rick And Morty Season 4 release date as of this writing, fans are still optimistic that it will happen soon.
