Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have long been rumored to have taken their on-screen romance to off-screen. However, the Outlander Season 4 actor quickly slammed all the allegations when he officially confirmed his romance with The Bold and the Beautiful actress, MacKenzie Mauzy. Despite this update, Sam and Catriona’s relationship has always been strong, and it was even strengthened during their filming.

The 38-year-old Scottish actor and Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser) are currently working hard to finish filming for Outlander Season 4. Since the fourth installment of the historical time travel series is set to premiere on Starz a little bit later this year, Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), the 38-year-old Irish actress, and the rest of the cast and crew had to work double time, as evident in Film & TV Assistant Director Nick Heckstall-Smith’s social media post.

“To the toughest cast and crew - Congratulations on completing another grueling block of @Outlander_STARZ #nearlythereguys,” Nick Heckstall-Smith tweeted on May 3. “Thank you, it’s always a pleasure pushing you through the mud.”

However, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are not going to make this “grueling block” stress them out. The Outlander Season 4 stars are just taking this opportunity to enjoy the moment and also each other’s company. And because they have been doing this for some years, the co-stars have built a stable friendship.

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are known to be social media BFFs. So, when the Outlander Season 4 actor celebrated his 38th birthday on April, his TV wife took to Twitter to post a rather beautiful portrait of the birthday boy.

“Happy Birthday darling !!! May you feel like a princess alllllll day” Caitriona Balfe tweeted. She then tagged Sam Heughan to make sure that he will see her message. The Outlander Season 4 actress also added a couple of princes emojis to make him feel special on his day.

This is not the first time that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have had an adorable exchange on Twitter. It can be recalled that the Outlander Season 4 stars posted “zzzz’s” on their accounts as a result of them not having enough sleep. This goes to show that the duo shares the same humor, which helps them a lot during filming.
