’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 Update: New Trailer Reveals Major Hint On What To Expect In Second Installment
Netflix has finally dropped a teaser for 13 Reasons Why Season 2. It is packed with hints on what to expect in the second installment of the teen drama.
The trailer featured all the major characters in the series in freeze frame surrounded by some swirling photographs. The Polaroid photos in the sneak peak confirmed series creator Brian Yorkey's previous statement that they will use old-school technology in the upcoming installment.
Yorkey earlier confirmed that there will be no cassette tapes in Season 2, but they will use something to replace Hannah Baker's (Katherine Langford) tapes. If Hannah recorded 13 cassette tapes in Season 1, who took the Polaroid photos in the upcoming installment?
13 Reasons Why Season 2 Plot
The second season of Selena Gomez-produced TV series will feature the aftermath of Hannah's death and will pick up several months after the tragic incident. Yorkey has confirmed that there will be a court trial this season. This means Bryce's crimes will be revealed, too. Yorkey also assured that all the questions that were left unanswered in Season 1 will finally be resolved this season.
"I think one of the things that is still hanging out there is this question of is someone responsible for Hannah's death? Is the school responsible? Who is responsible, if anyone is?" Yorkey said.
Meanwhile, the images features in the Polaroid photographs in the trailer also offer hints on what will happen to some of the characters. One of the photos in Jessica's (Alisha Boe) frame shows the word "liar" and she is warned to keep her mouth shut. Bryce (Justin Prentice) is seen hanging out with new character Chloe (Anne Winters).
Hannah's mother Olivia Baker (Kate Walsh), on the other hand, is investigating Hannah's death as she is seen putting together pieces of evidence on a bulletin board. At the end of the trailer, Clay (Dylan Minnette) is seen picking up a picture of Hannah that has a warning "The tapes were just the beginning" at the back. Check out the whole teaser below.
Season 1 focused on Hannah's plight as a teenage student. She made 13 tapes detailing the reasons why she killed herself and the names of the people who influenced her decision to take her own life.
13 Reasons Why Cast Members
Although Hannah is already dead, Langford will reprise her role as the high school teen who committed suicide. It was previously confirmed by the series' executives that Hannah will be in Season 2 but the narrative of the second season will not be focused on the character.
Minnette, Boe, and Prentice are all set to come back in the show. Brandon Flynn (Justin), Christian Navarro (Tony), Miles Heizer (Alex), Ross Butler (Zach), and Michele Selene Ang (Courtney) will also return in Season 2.
Meanwhile, newcomers in the show include Kelli O'Hara as anti-bullying advocate Jackie. Anne Winters will also join the cast as high school "It" girl named Chloe. At least 10 other actors will reportedly join the series.
The second season of the Netflix drama based on Jay Asher's novel will have 13 episodes. 13 Reasons Why Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on May 18.
