A major cliffhanger awaits fans in the 'Supernatural' Season 13 finale. Jensen Ackles will play a character who is not Dean Winchester but someone fans have seen before.

It looks like a major cliffhanger awaits fans in the Supernatural Season 13 finale. There are only two more episodes before the culmination of the current season and everyone is guessing what will happen come the end of it.

Supernatural is known for having a cliffhanger ending each season. It could be Sam in hell, Dean dead, or a demon unleashing its power on mankind. This time around, it will be different. It will involve the Winchester brothers, of course, but in a never-before-seen story arc.

Executive producer Robert Singer revealed that Jensen Ackles would play a character who is not Dean Winchester.  The Supernatural executive teased that the character is someone who viewers have seen in the past, but it was "many years ago." EP Andrew Dabb added fans would be both "happy and terrified" after the big surprise, TV Line reported.

The Supernatural bosses haven't revealed many details of the finale, but knowing the show, it could be something out of this world. Moreover, it looks like this moment will happen in the finale episode titled "Let the Good Times Roll." The episode was also directed by Singer and written by Dabb.

"IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS - Our heroes, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester, continue to be tested in the battle between good and evil, but one impulsive decision could alter the lives of one the brothers forever," the official synopsis of Episode 23 stated.

Supernatural Season 13 Episode 21 Spoilers

In Episode 21, titled "Beat the Devil," Dean, Sam, and Castiel (Misha Collins) will work with Archangel Gabriel (Richard Speight, Jr.) to bring home Mary (Samantha Smith) and Jack (Alexander Calvert). In the previous episode, the Winchester brothers helped Gabriel take down Loki and his sons. To return the favor, he agreed to help the gang in their fight to save the world against Michael.

The Winchesters and the rest of the team will head to the other dimension. But, a tension will arise between the boys and their mother when they finally meet. Apparently, Mary finds the apocalypse world as her new home. It looks like she will choose to stay instead of going back in the present world with her sons.

Understandably, Sam and Dean would be angry considering all the danger they have been through to be able to be with their mother again. Perhaps Mary will change her mind when Michael brings the fight to the Winchesters' world.

Meanwhile, Rowena (Ruth Connell) will have an encounter with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino). This may affect the outcome of the team's journey to the other dimension. Watch the teaser trailer below.

Supernatural Season 13 Episode 22 Spoilers

The "Exodus" episode synopsis doesn't offer much on what to expect in the penultimate episode of the season. However, it seems like Sam and Dean will lead the people from the apocalypse world to a mass exodus. Meanwhile, Jack continues to regret his decisions to go after Michael against Mary's advice.

"Sam and Dean devise a plan that will save innocent lives. Meanwhile, Jack continues to wrestle with the consequences of his decisions," the Episode 22 synopsis stated.

Supernatural Season 13 airs on Thursday nights at 8/7c on The CW. The season finale will air on May 17.
