Former member of Korean group 2NE1 Park Bom has broken her silence about her past drug scandal after it was featured on a TV show and people started to talk about it again. Bom also hinted her interest in renewing her career.

In an interview with Sports Kyung Hyang, Bom opened up about the disorder that she has been hiding and the drug controversy that has stained her name for the past years. Bom admitted that she and her parents had been greatly affected by the scandal.

The K-pop idol explained that she had to take prescription medication because of her Attention Deficit Disorder. The singer said she is suffering from the condition since middle school. Unfortunately, ADD is not a common condition in South Korea, so she decided to obtain medication and treatment from the U.S.

"The name of the disorder has recently become known, but there's no exact medication for it so I take medication for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). As it's not the right medication, it's difficult to suffer through the disorder," Bom said.

Apparently, the idol was prescribed to take Adderall by her physician in the U.S. It was the drug that was intercepted by authorities at the Incheon International Airport customs in 2010. Bom was investigated because of it, but the case was eventually dismissed. Some netizens question the ruling, saying Bom should have at least given probation for bringing in illegal drugs in the country.

The drug that was sent to Bom was illegal in South Korea but not in the U.S. Bom acknowledged her "ignorance" in the process of bringing in her medication in the country.

"I became known as a drug smuggler when I brought in Adderall. In the United States, it is a common medication used for the treatment of illnesses like the one I have. It's something that happened partially due to my ignorance during the process of bringing it, but it's frustrating when people say the medication is 100 percent amphetamines. They call it drugs, but it's something I need to take to treat my disorder?," the K-pop idol said.

Park Bom On Coming Back On Music Stage

The ex-2NE1 member has been out of the limelight for more than a year now. 2NE1 disbanded in November 2016, but Bom took part in 2NE1's final song "Goodbye" which was released in January 2017.

Bom has been keeping a low profile since even on social media. Now, she hinted an interest in coming back on stage again. It seems like she wouldn't let her past drug controversy continue to hinder her dreams.

"Because I received so much hate, I didn't even want to be a singer. After the 'PD Notebook' broadcast though, I feel like I have to be a singer. I can't give up what I want to do most and am best at because I'm intimidated by misunderstandings ... I want to have a successful return as a singer, so I can buy a big building for my parents who've struggled a lot because of me," Park Bom said.

Her fans quickly took to social media to express their support for Bom. The hashtags #WeAreWithBom and #LeaveParkBomAlone has been trending since the interview. Many said they understand why the singer needs her prescription drugs.

"We will support you Queen Park Bom @haroobomkum Sing!!! Sing!!! Let your voice be heard again!" one fan wrote.

"Imagine being Bom: Suffered from mental illness, sought help from professional doctors, got prescribed medication, and ended up getting backlash and humiliation from the public. If you stand with the truth and think mental health is important, speak up!" another fan said.
