K-Drama Actress Kim Sa Rang Severely Suffers Leg Injury Due To Undisclosed Accident

Korean actress/beauty queen Kim Sa Rang underwent surgery after she suffered a severe leg injury during a vacation in Italy. Her agency, however, refused to divulge details as to how Kim got injured.

It was earlier reported that Kim wa shopping at a famed furniture store in Italy when she accidentally fell into an unmarked manhole. The fall reportedly caused her a fractured leg. Reports also indicate that Kim's physicians have said the injury is severe and it will take time for the fracture to heal.

But her agency, Leo International, denied the reports that the 40-year-old actress fell into a manhole. The company said they will reveal the cause of the accident in the coming days.

"I can't give you the details. But she didn't fall into a manhole, nor was she involved in a car accident. She was in shock and suffered great pains," a rep from the agency said.

Leo Entertainment added that Kim was immediately transported back to South Korea to receive treatment at a hospital in Seoul because she is having difficulty to have the surgery in Italy because of the language barrier. It also assured that the K-drama actress had a successful surgery in Korea and she is now in recovery.

Kim Sa Rang's Acting Career

Kim Sa Rang first grabbed the spotlight when she won the Miss Korea pageant in 2000. She represented her country in the Miss Universe Pageant 2001 and won the Best National Costume award for her traditional Korean hanbok dress.

She further rose to fame when she started her acting career in 2000. Among her notable K-drama series include A Love to Kill with Rain, the Secret Garden with Hyun Bin, and This is My Love alongside Joo Jin-mo.

The beauty queen-turned-actress earlier turned down a role on tvN's upcoming K-drama, Mr. Sunshine, due to scheduling conflicts. Kim was supposed to portray the character named Hee Na. She is an aristocratic hotel owner. 

Mr. Sunshine could be Kim's comeback on television and a huge opportunity to work with Descendants of the Sun and Goblin director Lee Eung Bok and screenwriter Kim Eun Sook. Kim Min Jung has been confirmed to replace Kim Sa Rang in the series. The drama also stars Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Ri in lead roles.

The K-drama is set in the 1900s. Mr. Sunshine follows the story of a young boy who travels to the United States during the time of the U.S. expedition to Korea in 1871. He returns to his homeland as an American soldier. He later fell in love with a nobleman's daughter in Korea. Mr. Sunshine is expected to premiere in July.
