Snapchat Selfie Lenses To Stay Forever; New Paid In-App Feature Angers Users!
Snapchat recently launched new selfie filtered lenses that users can keep and enjoy permanently.
Snapchat first introduced their selfie lenses in September, an app feature that customizes a self-taken photo with special effects and animations such as a quirky streaks of rainbow vomit or a mustache. Users can start purchasing these lenses and store them for as long as they want for $0.99 using the in-app store, according to Tech Times.
These selfie lenses are free and users get to have 30 additional lenses each day. The lens can be activated by simply long pressing the face part when using a front-facing camera, and users can choose a lens they want to preview at the bottom part of the screen.
Snapchat offers free preview for the selfie lenses however, the user needs to pay the fee for each lens used for a photo. Another thing, Snapchat will also give three extra replays for every in-app transaction to preview the selfie that they captured, according to TechCrunch.
Snapchat free selfie lenses will come in seven each day and the paid filtered lenses are available in United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Saudi Arabia and other regions in Europe. The company currently has 100 million daily app users and 10 million pictures taken every day, according to The Verge.
Snapchat features are not only for entertainment and leisure but also stand as an additional business component, such as allowing brands to advertise their product using their lenses. Snapchat's value is $16 billion and targets to reach $50 million in revenue in 2016.
The new app announcement somehow didn't garner positive response from its users, which they voiced their response via Twitter. A user with a name of @AHrenbo said that, "It didn't take long for @Snapchat to start making you pay to use those filters. Thanks for ruining a fun idea," reported by CNBC.
