'Dragon Ball Super' Movie Release Date, Theories & Spoilers: New Japanese Promo Art Hints Goku's Intense Battle

Anime fans have been waiting for the release of the Dragon Ball Super movie as a few details about the film are now emerging. In fact, new promotional art is revealed, and it teases a lot about the upcoming movie.

As revealed by Comicbook, the Japanese promo artwork gave a glimpse of the still images from the Dragon Ball Super movie. It is a collage of photo teasers that tease Goku's upcoming battle with a new mysterious villain. It also added more hype to the film as it shows some of the Saiyan's action-packed scenes.

The publication also noted Dragon Ball Super movie's new tagline, "Earth has Goku," while the unknown place has this mystery man. It seems like the phrase is teasing Goku's foe is someone who has the equivalent strength and power. Also, this enemy might be the most powerful guy in his realm.

Talking about Dragon Ball Super movie's canon, there are rumors swirling the film will be about Sayin Homeworld, Planet Sadala, and its backstory. There are also hearsays Freeza's history with Saiyans will be featured. Aside from that, fans are now assuming Goku's mysterious foe is the first Super Saiyan God. He, too, is said to be an essential part of the film.

To recall, before the Dragon Ball Super anime series ended, a movie version of the show is reportedly coming. After that, the film's teaser was revealed, showing Goku fighting a mysterious enemy in an unknown, icy place. This new foe is said to be a Saiyan, but he is not like any other. Hence, the series' avid fans believe the movie is going to be set in the past or somewhere between the show's arcs¸ per Otaku Art.

It was later confirmed that the Dragon Ball Super movie is going to be a sequel to the anime series. As the Tournament of Power ended, the film is set to continue the show's arc. Also, Freeza will play a big part in the film, although its main focus will be the Saiyans.

The Dragon Ball Super movie is set to be released on December 14, 2018 in Japan. However, there are rumors it will be unveiled globally, but this news has not been confirmed. So, fans should only take this assumption with a grain of salt and wait for Toei Animation's further announcements.
