EXO’s Commemorative Medals: Prices, Pre-Order Date, Where To Buy & More
Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation have unveiled the EXO commemorative medals. All nine members of the Korean pop group now have their own silver medals. The debut photos of the members were featured in each piece.
EXO fans around the world would finally get their hands on the band's minted medals. It can be recalled that it was announced last month that EXO will be the first ever K-pop group to receive a commemorative medal. The pieces were minted by KOMSCO.
The government-owned corporation worked with expert currency designers to create the molds of the EXO members' faces. KOMSCO is responsible for the printing and minting of South Korean banknotes and coins as well as government documents such as passports. The corporation also created the 2018 Winter Olympics medals and the commemorative coins celebrating the recent games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
EXO's Suho Explains Why They Laugh When They Saw Their Medals
Kai, Suho, and Baekhyun recently attended the medal awarding ceremony at the SM Artium in Seoul. The event was a formal occasion, but the EXO members lost their composure when they saw their faces on the mold used in minting the medals. Suho explained that they laughed in the ceremony because their photos used in the medal were from their early days in the industry.
The medal dedicated to the K-pop idols were produced to celebrate the achievements of EXO around the world. KOMSCO said it is also a symbol of the band's contribution to the Korean wave.
"We are producing an official commemorative medal in honor of top Korean idol group EXO, who is standing at the center of the Hallyu wave," a KOMSCO representative previously said.
