Welcome to Waikiki lead actress Jung In Sun apologized to the stars and crew of the Korean romantic comedy series for keeping her relationship with co-star Lee Yi Kyung a secret. The couple's revelation came as a surprise to many, particularly to their co-workers, as they never saw a sign that the two were romantically involved.

The final episode of JTBC's Welcome to Waikiki aired on Tuesday. A day later, Jung held a press conference and revealed that she and Lee are dating. The actress said their relationship is not actually new.  She and Lee have been hanging out for about a year now and even before their show started they have been going out already.

Jung said she and Lee know that they will have different love interests even before the camera started rolling for the Korean TV series. The couple decided to keep their relationship to themselves because it might affect the show in a negative way. They acted normal and professional until they finished the show.

"The other actors didn't know. They knew that I had a boyfriend, but not who the boyfriend was. When they heard about it later, everyone encouraged me. I felt even more apologetic ... Again, I'm sorry to the 'Waikiki' staff members. I do feel a little burdened by the dating news blowing out now, but because it's a matter I must take responsibility for, I can't just focus on my burdened feelings," Jung said.

Fans of both Korean stars as well as their co-stars and crew of Welcome To Waikiki were surprised of Jung and Lee's relationship. Producing director Lee Chang Min said he was surprised when he found out about the relationship because they never see the two going on a date while filming the show.

"When I first heard that they were a couple, I didn't believe it. They didn't show any signs and focused on their individual characters, so I didn't know. I think everyone didn't know because Lee Yi Kyung and Jung In Sun didn't show any indication of it. Because Jun Ki [Lee Yi Kyung's character] and Yoon Ah's [Jung In Sun's character] episodes are separated, the only place where they met was Waikiki, so I think it was harder to notice it," he told Soompi.

Jung In Sun Reveals How She Met Lee Yi Kyung

The actress revealed that she met Lee through a common friend. She confessed that after a conversation with the actor, they both knew that they are a perfect match for each other. Jung said there are very few instances that she crossed paths with Lee on the set of Welcome To Waikiki so they were able to keep a low-profile yet a strong relationship.

"He and I give each other lots of strength. We're both actors, so we're very considerate and respectful of each other. I'm very thankful for him," she exclaimed.

In Welcome to Waikiki, Jung In Sun portrays the role of a lovely but clumsy woman, Han Yoon Ah. She is a single mother, who sparks complications in the lives of three men who manage a guesthouse.

In the story, Jung's character is involved with actor Kim Jung Hyun's character, Kang Dong-gu, who is a kind-hearted man but an "icon of misfortune." His dream is to become a movie director.

Lee Yi Kyung, on the other hand, plays the role of a young actor named Lee Jun Ki, who wants to follow the footsteps of his A-list actor father but he continues to lands in minor roles. Lee's love interest in the series is Kang Seo-Jin, who is played by actress Go Won Hee.
