BTS Proves Their Power Through Product Endorsements
LG Electronics has recently announced BTS as the new face of their smartphones. The Kpop group will be promoting their premium line of mobile phones that will be launched in the first half of 2018.
The company announced the good news on their social media accounts and this gained them thousands of followers and likes. Their announcement gained them over 66,000 likes with over 39,000 retweets and comments from all over the world.
New sets of keywords also resurfaced on Naver's search engine. A representative from the company has released a statement about the sudden rise of interest in their products upon the launch of BTS:
"It's an unusual phenomenon to have related keywords like LG to be searched in such a large volume in just one single day. The high level of interest is leading people to look up LG Electronics and BTS together. BTS grew from a medium-sized like Big Hit Entertainment through communicating with fans early, centered on social media."
BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) won the Top Social Artist award last year at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards defeating Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. The group has been around for over four years and have won numerous awards.
The group is made up of seven members: Rap Monster, Suga, Jimin, V, Jin, J-Hope, and Jungkook. They are under Big Hit Entertainment and they were established in 2013. Their first debut is "No More Dream" and their first album, "2 Cool 4 Skool" was released in August 2013. The album won them three New Artist of the Year awards, four MelOn Music Awards and four Golden Disk Awards.
In 2014, the group received two Seoul Music Awards and a major bonsang award.
LG isn't the group's first endorsement. In 2015, they became the ambassador for Puma. They were also chosen as the face of Smart Uniform, BBQ Chicken, and SK Telecom. Nexon released avatars based on the lifestyle of the band members.
With such strong endorsing power, it is very likely that more well-known brands will knock on their doors to have them represent their products.
