‘Outlander’ Season 4 News: Sam Heughan Reveals Jaime and Claire Are Gearing For A Less Intimate and Steamy Relationship This Season
Sam Heughan has offered a little glimpse of what to expect in Outlander Season 4. The actor has dropped some spoilers, particularly the steamy scenes between Jamie and Claire, and the reasons why there would be less steamy scenes this season.
Outlander has been known for the very intimate love scenes between Jamie (Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) up until the previous season. However, this will change in the fourth installment of the Starz series. Heughan has teased that there will be fewer sex scenes between the couple because of several reasons.
The Fraser couple is slowing down in that department since they are both a little older than they were in Season 1. The TV debut of Diana Gabaldon's novel was the prime of Jaime and Claire steamy love scenes. That was the time they got married.
During the Television Academy panel of Outlander in Los Angeles, Heughan said since there will be less danger around the two in the upcoming season and their sex life will be tamer, too. The 37-actor also hinted that the couple will not get separated this season; which is a common occurrence in the past installments. Although they will spend more time together in Season 4, sex will be less between Jaime and Claire.
"It's a very important part of their relationship. But without the tension of constantly being separated, or imprisoned, or nearly dead, things might have slowed down a little in that department. They're slightly older, so maybe it's less energetic," Heughan revealed.
How will this affect the marriage of the series' protagonist? Will it cause infidelity? Heughan has assured fans that Jaime and Claire are still madly in love with each other. However, it is also worth noting that Season 4 will introduce new characters and one of those is a man that will develop a crush on Claire and will flirt with her.
Less Steamy Sex But More Adventure For Claire and Jaime
They are old and will have less sex, but it doesn't mean less adventure for the Fraser couple. Jaime and Claire will embark on a new voyage and will face new challenges as new villains will emerge this season. It can be recalled that the couple was washed off the coast of Georgia following a shipwreck in the Season 3 finale.
The fourth season of the Starz drama will also feature the first meeting of Jaime and his daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton). Heughan has hinted that it is a huge scene and he is seriously preparing to shoot another crucial moment in the series. In the previous season, the pivotal scene was the reunion between Jaime and Claire at the print shop, and of course, they had sex afterwards. It was the most-watched episode ever with 1.72 million viewers tuned in.
Outlander Season 4 is based on the fourth novel in Gabaldon's Outlander book series, Drums of Autumn. The fourth installment of the hit drama is currently in production in several locations in Europe. It is expected to take months before it wraps up. Season 4 has no premiere date as of yet, though it is expected to hit the small screen come fall.
