US, South Korea Resume Military Exercises; North Korea Shoudn't Be Pressured

The Trump administration is yet to declare President Donald Trump's meeting with Kim Jong-un. According to the White House's official declaration, the American President still intends to meet the supreme leader of North Korea by the end of May although it did not specify the date.

Trump's recent conversation with Moon Jae-in

Last Friday, March 16, President Trump had a telephonic conversation with South Korea's President, Moon Jae-in. According to a small anecdote in their conversation released by The White House, both the leaders "discussed ongoing effects to prepare for their upcoming engagements with North Korea."

The source further cited that both presidents, Trump and Jae-in, emphasized the importance of learning from the mistakes of the past. The close coordination between these two leaders (the United States and South Korea) will continue yielding maximum pressure on the North Korean regime.

President Trump not only repeated his intention to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, but both leaders emphasized that "concrete actions, and not words" to be the solution to permanent denuclearization in the Korean Peninsula. Even both discussed the recent developments and highlighted that a brilliant future is available for North Korea in case the nation's leader is ready to choose the right track.

According to CNBC, experts have expressed doubt as they believe that there is a very small chance of the meeting between President Trump and Jong-un. They even doubt that even if the meeting takes place, it would hardly yield any results because the White House has already claimed that North Korea would have to meet some specific conditions first.

Is Trump's unconfirmed decision to meet Jong-un a dramatic reversal?

While the Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was recently in Africa to deal with some other diplomatic businesses, Trump's (unconfirmed) decision to agree to a meeting with the North Korea leader surfaced. The critics had started saying Trump's acceptance is "a dramatic U-turn" as Tillerson called Jong-un "Little Rocket Man," when the Korean dictator launched several missiles to threaten America.

However, Tillerson had recently been fired by Trump and CIA Director Mike Pompeo has been appointed his replacement.
