First Lady Melania Trump appeared in public on Monday to repeat her personal commitment to those combating the opioid crisis. Her trip to Manchester with President Donald Trump has already caused a huge buzz on the social media with the term "drug-infested den."

What did Melania Trump say in her speech?

Melania talked much about her focus towards understanding the negative effects the opioid epidemic is having on the children and young moms. She also highlighted neonatal abstinence syndrome that has a tremendous side effect on pregnant women addicted to opioids who give birth to babies (either faced with withdrawal symptoms or addicted to drugs).

According to Local News 8, Melania stated the unawareness of many mothers who have even not heard of this disease. Hence, they should be educated about the real danger of opioids on them and unborn infants.

The American President directly talked about the death penalty for the drug dealers

On the other hand, President Donald Trump also expressed his opinion to end the opioid epidemic in his speech. While Melania talked about awareness mainly among the expecting women to save the future generations, Mr. President concentrated on punitive measures. His speech also included the death penalty for the drug dealers, which is still not adopted by the government. He wants to replace the rigorous 10 years of imprisonment with the death penalty for the drug dealers in America.

He is influenced with some nations' (without naming the countries) direct death punishment with zero percent tolerance. He said that those countries are completely free from the dangerous drug business. He even pledged to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable for their role in fostering addiction.

According to the President, if the government does not get "tough" on the drug dealers, "it is simply wasting its time." His toughness includes the death penalty, as also confirmed by The Washington Post.

United States' incapability in completely solving drug problem highlighted

The executive director of the Grayken Center for Addiction Medicine at the Boston Medical Center, Michael P. Botticelli extolled President's speech from various aspects. He also accepted the plan of introducing death penalty. He recalled United States of America's history of never being able to solve the drug problem.

"I think that we have known throughout the recent history of the United States that has not solved our drug problem here in the United States," Botticelli opined.
