Nintendo announced "Hyrule Warriors Legends" for 3DS would start rolling out on March 25, 2016 in North America along with a new female character inspired from one of "The Legend of Zelda" faces.

Nintendo introduced the first official female counterpart of Link, named Linkle during the Nintendo Direct presentation. The new character is equipped with two crossbow weapons and is capable of a spin kick attack, according to IGN.

This "Hyrule Warriors Legends" new character Linkle came "from a small village filled with Cuccos." The Nintendo America also introduced the character via Twitter with caption, "A new playable female character named Linkle enters the Zelda universe in #HyruleWarriors Legends. #NintendoDirect," according to The Verge.

The game "Hyrule Warriors Legends" is developed by Koei Temco. Linkle was first introduced in an art book for Wii U as the female version of Link in summer of 2014. She was included in a page of rejected characters who never once made it to the game. Somehow, there seems to be a twist for her story since she was spotted in a leaked "Hyrule Warriors Legends" trailer in June, as reported by The Verge.

The art book where Linkle is featured, described her as a "little sister-like" of Link translated from the Japanese text that says "imouto teki" and her Japanese name is "Rinkuru," according to Kotaku.

A  YouTube video was uploaded showing Linkle in action which focused on her skills for combat fighting in defeating her enemies, as reported by Silicon Era.

There will be four additional characters that will be in the game namely, Toon Link from "Wind Waker," The King of Hyrule and the pirate version of Zelda, Tetra, according to Eurogamer.

Linkle will make her official debut along with other classic "The Legend of Zelda" characters in Jan. 21, 2016 in Japan followed by North America in March 25, 2016.
