Don't worry! SpongeBob SquarePants is still here with us! The rumor that broke out this weekend that the American animated television series was coming to an end on Thursday, March 1 broke the Bikini Bottom fans' hearts.
The latest tweet on the cancellation of SpongeBob SquarePants seems to have been done from a SpongeBob official or verified account. It further thanked all the lovers worldwide for their constant support throughout the years. It tried to convince fans of the fake sad news by inserting a snap of a teary-eyed SpongeBob.
But later when it was minutely observed, it was found that the tweet was performed by fantastically photoshopping SpongeBob's logo to prove it genuine. When it was tweeted, media trolls picked it up and started stirring up the confusion online.

Season 12 may have at least 26 episodes
Although the tweet is fake, the global SpongeBob SquarePants lovers have convinced the creators and developers how much they love the series. According to NBC New York, the real SpongeBob stood up on Sunday, March 25 bolstering fans' mood by stating "Breaking News! March 1st is nothing but the first day of March."
It further reassured that SpongeBob SquarePants is not cancelled at all and Season 12 will be released anytime in 2019. There is no fixed number of episodes for Season 12 so far, but it is expected that it will contain at least 26 episodes to feature the aquatic absorber and his chums. The series, on the other hand, also reassured the viewers on Instagram that there are a lot more on the way from Bikini Bottom.
Same rumor was spread several times
This is not the first time someone has spread false rumors about the sudden ending of SpongeBob. The same happened in 2014 and 2016 also. Even in the year 2002, the rumor was circulated via email blast with a fake story of a kid drowning. Probably, the fake news spreaders want to watch the keen viewers in extreme pain and agony, Inverse reported.
SpongeBob SquarePants is still the highest-rated series on Nickelodeon (popularly called Nick). The media franchise has raised around $13 billion in merchandising revenue from Nick.
