The #MeToo campaign is becoming more intense in South Korea as more and more well-known personalities are being exposed as suspects for sexual harassment.

A film director divulged her experience as a victim of sexual assault on February 1. She exposed the director, Lee Hyun-ju on her Facebook page, which has now been set to private. Lee gave a public apology and used the opportunity to come out as a lesbian.

"I'm writing to participate in the #MeToo Campaign," and she said that the courage to speak up about her experience was prompted following a female prosecutor's same revelation.

Recent Actors in Hot Waters

Just last week, actors Cho Jae-hyun and Oh Dal-soo were accused of sexual harassment. The alleged sexual harassment went public when the victims shared their stories online. These accusations came after actress Choi Yul took to her Instagram account to reveal the sexual abuse by Cho

Cho has issued an apology last Saturday, "I confess. I've been living a wrong life. Throughout my nearly 30-year career, I've made so many mistakes, said and done so many bad things. I am a sinner. I bow my head in apology," he said in a statement.

The 52-year-old actor is part of the Cross drama series. It is still uncertain if he will leave the show as he plays a major role. According to reports, the production team is already rushing to create a story that will make Cho's departure in the show look natural.

On the other hand, Oh, who is also set to star in the upcoming tvN series My Mister was accused by two anonymous online commenters.

The production staff of the upcoming drama series also struggles with the scandal.

In a conservative society, the whole world watches as the campaign strengthens whilst local broadcasters and production companies contend with the consequences brought by the movement.
