'Star Wars: Episode 9' Update: Script Now Ready, Film Ahead Of Schedule, Says JJ Abrams
In spite of the changes that happened in Star Wars: Episode 9, the movie is now on track. In fact, the film's director JJ Abrams confirmed in an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that its script and storyline are now ready ahead of its filming.
"We have a script, which is a big deal for me," he said. He even considered having the script ready earlier than expected is a luck, which doesn't happen to him usually, Radio Times reported.
This is because of having the Argo screenwriter, Chris Terrio, with him around helps a lot in developing Star Wars: Episode 9 script. Also, the 51-year-old film director revealed that he is having a great time working with him.
This will be the second time that Abrams will be working on a Star Wars movie. To recall, he has replaced the film's first original director Colin Trevorrow.
He also directed the first installment of the sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With that, Abrams also said that returning doing the epic space opera franchise is "surreal."
The yet-to-be-titled Star Wars: Episode 9's production is set to start at the end of July. So, with all the changes that happened from the film, from Carrie Fisher's, who plays the role of General Leia Organa, death to Trevorrow's exit, its release date was pushed back from May to December 2019.
In an interview with Abrams in October 2017, via Game Spot, he revealed that his second Star Wars movie will have the same excitement just like the original films had that had been loved by a lot of fans. At the same time, he feels like it is their responsibility to take the viewers to the places that they haven't seen in the movie before.
Fans can expect to see the major stars from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi return in Star Wars: Episode 9. This, too, could be Daisy Ridley, who portrays Rey, last Star Wars film.
However, Star Wars: Episode 9 won't be the franchise's last movie. To recall, it was recently announced that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson will be making a new Star Wars trilogy, while Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss are also working on a different series for the saga.
