The notable difference, according to TheVerge is that the Redmi 5 phones may come bearing a reasonable price tag. While it isn't the company's crown jewel lineup, the Redmi series is definitely important to the Beijing-based handset maker, particularly in India.
The Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 garnered huge popularity among Indian smartphone users. Latest IDC figures deem them as the most popular phones in the country. In fact, both devices played a vital role in helping Xiaomi catch up with Samsung to claim the coveted title of India's number one smartphone brand.
The images exhibit the smartphones from every angle. They will bear a striking resemblance to each other and will only differ in terms of display size, with the Redmi 5 Plus being the bigger one of the two. The devices will be housed in a metal body with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor placed just below the rear camera with flash, IndiaToday reported.
Aside from that, the images verify that the phones will be up for grabs in a choice of Light Blue, Pink and Black colors. The images come after recently-surfaced promo videos that showed both handsets from the front, sporting slim bezels.
