The Galaxy S8's long-awaited successor, the Galaxy S9 has been floating around the rumor mill for some time now. While Samsung continues to remain tight-lipped about the purported successor to its recently-released Galaxy S-branded crown jewel, tech gurus are busy digging out more information about the upcoming smartphone.
Despite the lack of an official confirmation, earlier reports claim that the South Korean handset maker is already hard at work on next year's flagship, the Galaxy S9. In her latest report, The Inquirer's Carly Page rounded up everything they know about the upcoming smartphone so far. Let's delve straight into the details.
Specifications
The Galaxy S9 will sport a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display with 570ppi (pixel per inch). There will also be a larger variant with a massive 6.2-inch display, coupled with 529ppi, known as the Galaxy S9+.

In terms of security, the Galaxy S9 will have a fingerprint scanner embedded under the phone's display. On the photography front, it will feature a dual rear-facing camera. The new Galaxy S smartphone will come with a dedicated button for Bixby AI assistant and as far as connectivity is concerned, it will offer USB Type-C.
Release Date and Price
Samsung will reportedly kick off production of the Galaxy S9 and the larger Galaxy S9+ this year. If this shred of information is anything to go by, the handsets will hit the store shelves earlier in the year than their precursors.
Samsung is quite likely to announce both handsets at 2018 MWC (Mobile World Congress). Reports about the displays arriving in November has added more fuel to the already burning rumors, putting the final delivery date in January.
Details about the Galaxy S9 and S9+ pricing are still scarce. Based on the Galaxy S8, it's safe to say that the SIM-free version of the handsets may come bearing a price tag of £689 (about $918) and £779, which converts roughly to about $1038.
Latest News
The Galaxy S9 will sport relatively less bezel than its precursor, the Galaxy S8. A tech tipster told SamMobile that there could be an impressive 90 percent screen-to-body ratio on the new Galaxy S smartphone. It can be recalled that the Galaxy S8 had about 84 percent screen-to-body ratio.
If this proves to be true, the Galaxy S9's bottom bezel will be almost non-existent. This will give Samsung a room to pack a larger screen into the handset.
