Xiaomi Mi 7 Release Tipped For Early 2018 With 16MP Dual Camera, Snapdragon 845 And More
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is reportedly planning something big for next year. Latest report coming from the People's Republic reveals some of the most important specs of the company's 2018 flagship that's tentatively called Xiaomi Mi 7.
According to the report, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will boast a full-screen design similar to the current-gen flagships from most smartphone makers. The upcoming flagship will feature a 6.01-inch OLED display from Samsung with an aspect ratio of 18:9. This might seem a bit unrealistic, but it must be noted that multiple Chinese and Korean media outlets reported that Xiaomi has signed an OLED supply deal with Sammie back in July this year.
The Mi 7 will allegedly come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor because of the full-view display. The latest report has also revealed the presence of the Snapdragon 845 processor on the Mi 7, as reported by GSM Arena.
According to information provided by Taiwan's industry chain, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will not feature 3D facial recognition technology. The reason for this is that the corresponding technology isn't perfect yet. The Mi 7 will come with 6GB of RAM and a dual rear camera setup comprising of two 16MP sensors with an aperture of f/1.7. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to offer the same battery capacity as the Mi 6, which is 3,350mAh with the fast charging support, according to 91Mobiles.
For the pricing, the reports claim that Xiaomi Mi 7 will have a price tag of CNY 2,699, which currently translates to around $405. For the release date, the report doesn't mention anything about when Mi 7 will hit the stores, but Xiaomi does have a history of launching its flagships in late Q1 or early Q2. Thus, you can probably expect the device to hit the shelves in late March or April.
