Apple iPhone 2018 Will Have Dual-SIM And Gigabit LTE Support: Kuo
It looks like Apple iPhone 2018 models might have one of the much-awaited features - dual SIM support. The feature has been claimed by famous analyst KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in his latest note to investors. According to the Kuo's note, all 2018 iPhone models will come with dual standby feature.
Supporting two networks with dual-SIM card slots is quite common among smartphone developed by companies like Samsung and Xiaomi. But if latest research note by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is anything to go by then the Apple iPhone 2018 models will include dual-SIM support with dual-standby technology. Kuo has stated that unlike the existing dual-SIM offerings that generally had a combination of LTE and 3G connectivity, Apple is planning to bring support for two LTE networks consequently to improve user experience, as reported by Mac Rumors.
"2H18 iPhone models won't just offer faster LTE transmission speed: We predict that at least one of the 2H18 upcoming iPhone models will support dual-SIM dual standby (DSDS). Unlike existing DSDS phones that commonly support LTE+3G connections, we believe next-generation iPhone models will support LTE+LTE connections, in a bid to enhance the user experience," said the Kuo's note.
The note also points to the expanded reliability on Intel for developing 70 to 80 percent of the baseband chips for future Apple iPhone 2018 models. Kuo claimed that Apple is mainly opting for Intel's XMM7560 in addition to Qualcomm's SDX 20 models to make wireless connectivity on new the iPhone versions faster than their existing models, as reported by Gadgets Now.
Meanwhile, the said dual SIM support might support dual SIM and dual standby as well. Thereby, both the SIMs can be used actively on the upcoming Apple iPhone 2018. Moreover, it has also been predicted that the chipset in the iPhone will support LTE connection for both the SIMs. The same LTE SIMs is predicted to provide better connectivity.
