TWICE Now The Fastest K-Pop Girl Group To Reach 70 Million Views With 'Likey' MV
TWICE's "Likey" MV has reached 70 million views! This new record just achieved them the title of the fastest girl group to reach that amount of views ever in the K-Pop industry. BLACKPINK previously held the title, with their song "As If It's Your Last" which reached 70 million views in 25 days and 20 hours, Soompi said. But it seems like Once, TWICE's fanbase name is way faster as their idol's 70 million views was reached only in 17 days and 9 hours upon release.
The girls seem to have set many great records this year with their newly released album 'Twicetagram', as it has achieved the highest amount of physical album sold by a girl group within the first week of release, selling 122,926 copies of the album. This new record has beaten up another one of their own, for the fourth time in a row. TWICE previously had the most album sales during the first week for a girl group with their other hit track "Signal", as 114,000 albums were reportedly sold.
"Likey" also secured the first place on weekly charts of several Korean streaming sites, such as Naver Music, Olleh, Genie, and more. The K-Pop sensation was also beating up their own Youtube record, as their current title track "Likey" had hit 10,767,044 views exactly a day after its release, placing them as the fourth highest MV views in the first 24 hours by K-pop group after BTS's "DNA", BLACKPINK's "As If It's Your Last", and BTS's "Not Today". TWICE's previous record was held by "Knock Knock" that was released in February this year, with 9, 857, 751 views reached in a day.
As if not enough, TWICE's latest album 'Twicetagram' also ranked first on Billboard World Album Chart, making them the best-selling K-pop album in the United States in the first week of November. Meanwhile, TWICE will be appearing on Kōhaku Uta Gassen (literal title: Red and White Song Battle), a famous Japanese Year-End show that will be broadcasted on December 31. This performance marks them as the first time K-pop artist in 6 years that will attend the New Year Eve's show, after TVXQ, KARA, and Girls' Generation.
