TWICE Earns First No.1 on Both Album and Digital Sales Chart Globally
K-pop Sensation TWICE has just achieved the highest amount of sales in both physical and digital song sales sold by a girl group within its first of release. Their latest album, "Twicetagram," made it to the top spot at the World Albums Chart with at least 1,000 copies sold in the week ending Nov.2, which makes it the best- selling K-pop album in the US charts this week, Billboard wrote.
This is not the first time that TWICE has landed on the World Albums chart. In fact, the group were able to land all of their five past EPs on World Albums to date starting with The Story Begins (landed on No.15 in January 2016), Page Two (got the No.6 spot in May 2016), Twicecoaster:Lane 1(landed on No.3 in Nov.2016), Twicecoaster: Lane 2 (No.4 in Feb. 2017), and Signal (got the no.3 spot last June).
The success of both Twicetagram and "Likey" makes TWICE the first K-pop group to get the top spot on both World Digital Song Sales chart and the Billboard's World Album. The only other K-pop act that was able to achieve such feat is BTS for three times: once in 2016 with "Blood, Sweat & Tears" and Wings, and twice this year with "Spring Day", You Never Walk Alone, and "DNA" and Love Yourself: Her.
But their success does not end there. According to Billboard, TWICE's first original Japanese single "One More Time" also advances into the Top 10 of World Digital Song Sales, making them one of the rare talents who can chart two different materials impressively in the US market.
According to Soompi, the group's music video for "Likey" has recently achieved the newest record for the fastest K-pop girl group music video to reach 40 million views. Their single is also in the top spots for five different domestic streaming sites - Bugs, Genie, Naver Music, Olleh, and Soribada-on Nov. 6.
