America's oldest military veteran Frank Levingston will turn 110 on Friday, reported NBC News on Wednesday.

Levingston served during the Second World War for Italy and currently lives in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He shared a recent letter he received from the White House recognizing his military service and congratulating him on his upcoming birthday.

"We trust you take enormous pride in everything you have accomplished," said the White House on their letter.

"I think I'm one of the blessed ones," said Levingston on his milestone.

He grew up in northern Louisiana and had very little formal education. He was enlisted in the army in 1942 as a private during the Naples-Foggia Campaign in Italy from September 1943 until January 1944.

Despite being as old as 110-years-old, Levingston still remembers his days in war like it was just yesterday, noted the Huffington Post on Wednesday.

"I can remember the day I was inducted in the Army until the day I was discharged," Levingston said. "I've been through so many dangerous things and I'm still here. I'm thankful to the almighty God for it. That's all I can say."

Levingston makes it a point to appreciate all that he has received, probably attributing to his longevity. Throughout his years, he has lived by one lesson that he learned in his life. "Be honest," noted Levingston. "That goes a long way."

As an early birthday present, Levingston reportedly received a letter and photo from the American president himself, Barack Obama.

Fellow centenarian Richard Overton also celebrated his 109th birthday with a neighborhood party, complete with American staples milkshakes and burgers, as well as cigars.

Overton is set to visit Austin Community College to be celebrated for his military service, but he had to cancel. His family confirmed on Tuesday that he was placed at the hospital ICU due to Pneumonia where he rests in fair condition.
