Scarlett Johansson received a fair salary similar with his male co-actors for the "Avengers 2" movie.

Scarlett Johansson, who played Black Widow in the movie, will reportedly receive an equal salary that is in range with Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans. Although, there were no reports of the accurate number of her salary from the "Avengers 2" but Forbes magazine estimated her total net worth in August that she reached $35 million in a year.

She's ranked the second highest paid female actor in the industry thanks to her role in "Lucy" and the "Avengers: Age of Ultron," following Jennifer Lawrence as the top highest in that category, according to The Guardian.

It was previously reported that she received $20 million for her role in "Avengers 2" which is twice what is offered to her male co-stars. Robert Downey who played Iron Man reigns at the top earning at $40 million while Chris Evans had $6.9 million, Jeremy Renner is at $6.1 million, $5.4 million for Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo garnered $2.8 million.

Fans speculated that Johansson's paycheck is similar in numbers as Jeremy Renner who played as her partner, Hawkeye in the movie, according to Cinema Blend.

Walt Disney Studios Chairman, Alan Horn released a statement with regard to giving equal salary to their actors saying, "Audiences have proven that there's an appetite and a market for dynamic female leads and female-driven stories, and as an industry, we have a responsibility to create those roles for women and compensate them accordingly," according to Variety.

The wage gap issue fired up when Jennifer Lawrence spoke about it through a written essay about what she earned for her role in the movie "American Hustle," as well as Jessica Chastain for "The Martian."

Other actresses have been vocal about the same issue especially with Patricia Arquette who included a statement in her Oscar speech saying, "wage equality once and for all," according to The Guardian.
