South Korean Former Football Player Park Ji Sung To Play Alongside Other Football Stars In UNICEF’s Match For Children
South Korean former footballer Park Ji Sung has been invited to play in the UNICEF's Match for Children, which will take place on November 14 at Old Trafford, United Kingdom. The one-off match will be participated by some of the world's greatest football players.
"Park has been invited to play for UNICEF's Match for Children which will be held at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, in the UK on Saturday," Park's charity group JS Foundation announces Wednesday, as noted by The Chosunilbo on Thursday.
34-year-old Park used to be the captain of the South Korean national team until he stopped playing football. Currently, he is the club ambassador of Manchester United.
According to reports, all proceeds of the charity match will be given to UNICEF's work for the world's most vulnerable children. Aside from that, the one-off game on Saturday aspires to raise awareness on issues involving children.
UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and former professional football David Beckham will be the captain of Great Britain and Ireland team. In addition, the team will be managed by his fellow UNICEF Ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson.
Football stars including David Seaman, David James, Sol Campbell, John Terry, Phil Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen and Andy Cole will play for Beckham's team.
Great Britain and Ireland team will face the Rest of the World XI for the charity contest on Saturday. The team will be captained by Zinedine Zidane and will be managed by Carlo Ancelotti.
Zidane's team consists of Edwin van der Saar, Cafu, Fabio Cannavaro, Alessandro Nesta, Luis Figo, Ronaldinho, Patrick Vieira, Michael Ballack, Massimo Ambrosini, Robert Pires, Dwight Yorke, Patrick Kluivert, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Landon Donovan.
Mirror reported Wednesday that the charity match will kick-off at 3:00 on Saturday. Further reports have revealed that all tickets for the game have already been sold.
However, those who have failed to get their tickets for the game can still watch it through a live streaming application that will show exclusive pictures of the match.
