'Shadowhunters' Season 3 Presents New Challenges To Alec - Magnus Relationship

Love is in the air in "Shadowhunters" Season 3. At New York Comic Con earlier this month, the cast and crew of the hit fantasy series teased that the upcoming season will further explore the relationship between the Shadowhunter Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario) and the High Warlock of Brooklyn Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.). 

The past two seasons have tried and tested the love between Alec and Magnus (of #Malec to their fans). However, there are bigger issues in the upcoming season. 

At NYCC 2017, the cast and showrunners talked about what is in store in "Shadowhunters" Season 3. They warned that while viewers will see Magnus and Alec go domestic, they will also witness the two face some new relationship hurdles. 

As The Young Folks reported, the couple will have to discuss certain issues and, from the looks of it, Magnus' immortality might become a big issue moving forward. Moreover, Magnus will be really stressed out in the upcoming season especially with the arrival of a new character, another warlock. 

At the same fan convention, it was announced that a new cast member will join the fantasy series on Freeform. Javier Muñoz of "Hamilton" will be a guest star in "Shadowhunters" Season 3. He will play the role of a rival warlock to Magnus. 

"You know I'm a fan of the show, I'm a fan of this genre," he stated (via EW). "I'm already in love with this character and I can't wait for you to meet him."

Of course, Magnus is not the only one who will have to deal with a new villain. The finale also teased that rise of Lilith, the first demon and the mother of the real Jonathan Morgenstern (Will Tudor), Anna Hopkins of "Arrow" will play the role on the small screen. 

"Shadowhunters" Season 3 will premiere on Apr. 3, 2018 on Freeform. Watch the trailer below.
