GOT7 Drops 'You Are' Single and MV Inspired By 'Your Name'
GOT7 has made a long-awaited comeback with the release of a seven-track album titled "7 for 7." The group also dropped the music video for the title track, "You Are."
The lovely music video shows the GOT7 members exploring various cityscapes, both separately and together. Toward the end of the MV, they are seen in more natural surroundings, and finally get together and dance on a field with a windmill. Watch the music video for "You Are" here:
One cool touch: In the video, each of the members is carrying a small triangle-shaped pendant. At the MV's conclusion, the pendants are brought together to form a heptagon emblazoned with the band logo. The setpiece fits the title and theme of GOT7's "7 for 7" album.
"You Are" is the group's first member-produced title track. Soompi reports that GOT7 leader JB composed it with the songwriting team of D.ham, MirrorBOY and Mun Hanmiru.
The song lyrics talk a lot about the sky, comparing it to an unnamed sweetheart. The chorus has English verses that go, "It's a beautiful sky" and "There is not a cloud." Soompi notes that JB's original title for the track was actually "Beautiful Sky." He took songwriting inspiration from the Japanese animated film "Your Name," which had many lovely scenes with images of the sky. JYP suggested a change of title, which is how it became "You Are."
The group's comeback activities will include an appearance in the Weekly Idol 10th Anniversary Special on October 11, 6 p.m. KST. Friday's KBS "Music Bank" will feature a GOT7 comeback stage.
GOT7 is a K-pop boy band with seven members that records under JYP Entertainment. The group is truly multinational, as it has Hong Kong, Thai and Taiwanese-American members besides its four Korean members.
GOT7 debuted on January 20, 2014, with the album "Got It?" It was an auspicious debut, with Billboard ranking "Got It?" at the top of its World Albums Chart.
The group made a comeback this year with the release of the album "Flight Log: Arrival" in March. It was the third and final album in GOT7's "Flight Log" trilogy.
