'Marvel's The Punisher' Season 1 Synopsis: Frank Castle Goes After New York's Criminal Underworld
Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) is not leaving New York City in Season 1 of "Marvel's The Punisher" on Netflix. Marvel has released the synopsis of the upcoming comic book series and it hints at the next target of the vigilante.
Even after Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) have defeated The Hand in "Marvel's The Defenders," the battle for New York City continues later this year in "Marvel's The Punisher." The synopsis reveals that war that Frank Castle since he made his debut in "Marvel's Daredevil" Season 2.
"After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs deeper than New York's criminal underworld," the series synopsis reads (via Comicbook.com). "Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone."
Micro, Punisher's right-hand-man, will also join the fight. The role will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Deborah Ann Woll of "Marvel's Daredevil" and "Marvel's The Defenders" will reprise the role of Karen Page in the upcoming comic book series. Ben Barnes will also star as Billy Russo, a close friend of Frank Castle during his military days.
According to Bernthal, "Marvel's The Punisher" Season 1 will see Frank Castle go to even darker places. In fact, the actor boasted to Collider that the series will "get into as dark and as brutal a place" ever seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Moreover, now that his personal mission of revenge is over, The Punisher will go on a journey to find something new to fight for. The series will ask: where does he go from here?
