Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, hosted "Saturday Night Live" and garnered the highest viewers rating since January 2012, according to Fox News.

Basketball great Charles Barkley hosted with a musical performance by Kelly Clarkson in 2012.

Trump's opening monologue on "Saturday Night Live" had a surprise appearance from "Seinfeld" co-creator and "Curb Your Enthusiasm Star" Larry David, reports Business Insider.

"People think I'm controversial, but the truth is I'm a nice guy," said Trump. "I don't hold grudges against anybody."

Donald then shared that Rosie O' Donnell, whom he publicly criticized in the past welcomed him to the show.

Much publicity and criticism was involved in Trump's 90 minute hosting gig and some critics said Donald did not make fun of himself enough and played it safe, revealed Vogue.

Trump was on television a few hours after his hosting gig. It was "very well received and probably got very good ratings, who knows," Donald replied.

The season's highest-rated episode is the forty-first season premiere, which featured Hillary Clinton's guest appearance and Miley Cyrus as host.

Donald Trump's overnight rating was 47 percent higher than Clinton's episode, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The actual numbers of "Saturday Night Live's" viewers will be revealed later this week. The season premiere garnered approximately a little over six million viewers, while Trump's episode could be close to ten million viewers.

Saturday night's iconic late night show marked the Republican presidential hopeful's second time hosting the show.

Donald hosted in 2004, a few weeks after the billionaire's debut as host of NBC's hit show "The Apprentice."

Trump's parody of Drake's "Hotline Bling" got genuine laughter from the audience that night, cited Rolling Stone.

In August, Trump fueled a debate on Fox News Channel to an impressive 24 million viewers and a September debate drawing a record of 23 million viewers.

Donald Trump continues to lead the Grand Old Party primary polls.
