'The King Loves': Girls' Generation's YoonA Reveals What She Loves About Eun San
YoonA of Girls' Generation is also celebrating ten years of her acting career this year. The singer/actress recently appeared on the cover of the September issue of Allure Magazine to talk about her journey to stardom and her new project, "The King Loves."
The 27-year-old made her acting debut in the MBC drama, "Two Outs in the Ninth Innings," in 2007 alongside Soo-Ar and Byun Hyung-Tae. Over the years, she went from a supporting cast into a leading lady; she has been part of popular dramas such as "Cinderella Man," "Love Rain," and "The Prime Minister & I."
This year, she returns to MBC to play the role of Eun-San, a strong-willed daughter of a noble man who hides her identity in order to survive. In her interview with Allure, YoonA revealed what attracted her to the historical drama.
"She's not a passive character but is someone with dynamic emotions so I think it'll be a good experience to play such a role," she explained (as quoted by AllKPop). "I had long discussions with the writer. The script is really good so I'm staying dedicated to it."
"The King Loves" (also "The King In Love") is written by Song Ji-Na, one of the most revered television writers in South Korea. She was also the brain behind "Eyes of Dawn" in 1991 and "Sandglass" from 2005, two of the most highly-rated and most-influential Kdramas of all time.
2017 is a big year or YoonA. Last month, Soompi noted that her girl group, Girls' Generation, celebrated ten years of music. This month, she marks her first decade as an actress.
"The King Loves " also stars Im Si-Wan ("The Attorney") as Wang Won, the crown prince during the Goryeo Dynasty and the first royalty in Korea to have mixed heritage, and Hong Jong-hyun ("Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo") as Wang Run, his childhood friend and bodyguard. The series premiered on July 17 on MBC.
