American Horror Story: Cult

Evan Peters has played major parts in all six seasons of "American Horror Story" but, according to show creator Ryan Murphy, his best is yet to come. In the politically-charged seventh season of the popular horror anthology on FX, the legendary television scribe praised the actor's performance in the role of President Donald Trump supporter, Kai Anderson.

This week, FX released the first full trailer for "American Horror Story: Cult." It showed both show regulars, Peters and Sarah Paulson, as the central characters. As promised, the story begins on Election Night in Detroit, Michigan where the two react very differently to Trump's win.

Paulson is Ally Mayfair-Richards, wails as soon as it was announced that the former TV personality and businessman are the 45th President of the United States. Meanwhile, Peters, as mentioned, will play Kai, a blue-haired, rabid Trump supporter who celebrated the Republican candidate's victory against the Democratic Party's Hillary Clinton.

The trailer also showed how the lives of the two characters changed following Election Night. Ally's mental state started to deteriorate and her fear of clowns has gotten worse. Kai, from the looks of it, founded his own cult (hence, the title) and recruited Billie Lourd's, Winter Anderson.

Peters' character on "American Horror Story: Cult" might not be the most charming he has played, but Murphy already thinks that Kai is the best role the actor has played on the show. On Instagram, the screenwriter praised the 30-year-old's performance in the next installment of the horror anthology.

"The many faces of Evan Peters," the caption read. "I think - and he agrees - that his upcoming Kai is his greatest 'AHS' role to date."

"American Horror Anthology: Cult" will also star Cheyenne Jackson, Alison Pill, Colton Haynes, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Lena Dunham, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, Emma Roberts, Chaz Bono and Cher. The series will return on Sept. 5 on FX.
