Tokyo Ghoul Season 3

Things are looking bleaker that the return of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will happen this year. After Vizmedia debunked a report that indicated that the anime was part of its 2017 line up, no news has been heard from the studio on the status of the anime.

After it was announced that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 was in development, fans have been waiting for concrete information about its release. While admittedly, "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 2 did not fare too well with hard core fans of the franchise, they remain hopeful that the third season will get back on track with a strong storyline that does not steer too far away from the original anime.

However, since "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 2 concluded in March 2015, fans have been generally kept in the dark about the upcoming season's development. They are not even sure what Season 3's storyline would tackle since lead character Ken Kaneki seemed to have been killed off in the Season 2 finale.

Some fans have since speculated that the "Tokyo Ghoul" live action movie which is set for release is the reason for the delay. Many believe that because of the limited resources available within the franchise, the team is working to complete the live action version before even starting with the anime. If this was the case, fans have lamented that it would be close to impossible for the air date to be in 2017 due to the required amount of time to produce the anime and include marketing and promotions as well, Korea Portal reported.

"Tokyo Ghoul" fans have also expressed worry that the studio may have canceled the development of the anime's third season without informing the fans. Some decried that in the two years since its last airing, the studio has remained quiet about the sequel which is very unusual for a project that is on track in terms of schedule.
