Microsoft Debuts New Products For Its XBox Gaming Unit

Good news for "Halo" fans out there, because Microsoft is giving backward compatibility to most of its old "Halo" titles for the Xbox One soon. And what's more? All the DLCs from the past titles will be given free of charge.

When a gaming console has left its glory days, it is usually hard to find a working console and a game. So when nostalgia hits, the only means to play a game is to buy a new console and CD or pray that your old console and games are still working. When things got really unlucky, you can resort to emulations, which is a big no for gamers without beefy computers.

Microsoft has seen that and is now working for a backward compatibility initiative, as reported by Mashable Asia. Games that will be compatible with Xbox One will be "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary", "Halo 3", "Halo 3 ODST", and "Halo 4". Though "Halo 2" or "Halo: Reach" are not mentioned din the announcement, fans are still hoping that it will be included in the list as well. Gamers who want to re-play these titles would have to stick with the "Halo" The Master Chief Collection" for Xbox One, despite its handful of problems.

Another good news is that Microsoft will support cross-generation LAN connections, which means that players that use Xbox 360 and Xbox One could play together for some local multiplayer matches, as reported by Gamespot. And players need not worry anymore for past DLC packs as these packs will also be available and free to download. There's no need to download additional packs anymore because if you still have your old 360 CDs, you just have to put it on the Xbox One to play older games.

Microsoft expands its backward compatibility feature on Xbox One on some games too. It is a nice initiative to keep fans engaged in their consoles. It would also extend some prep time for the most awaited "Halo 6".
