‘Ruler: Master Of The Mask’ Updates: Yoo Seung Ho Starrer Continues Reign Over ‘Suspicious Partner’
With "Ruler: Master of the Mask" and "Suspicious Partner" both heading into its final chapters, the two productions continue to vie for the top spot in the weekly TV rating race among Wednesday-Thursday primetime dramas. However, Yoo Seung Ho's historical drama remained the leader over competitor series that included the said Ji Chang Wook starrer and KBS' "Queen for Seven Days."
Yoo Seung Ho's drama retained its first-place ranking for the ninth week in a row. "Ruler: Master of the Mask" episodes 35 and 36 that was released back-to-back on July 6, Thursday, posted nationwide ratings of 12.8 percent and 14.9 percent, respectively. Across the Seoul metropolitan area, episode 35 reached viewership shares of 13.5 percent with episode 36 at 15.2 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Yonhap News.
Despite the popularity of SBS' mid-week primetime drama, the Ji Chang Wook was unable to break the reign that "Ruler: Master of the Mask" had over the said weekly TV rating chart. "Suspicious Partner" episode 35 clocked in at 8 percent, while episode 36 registered 9.2 percent. The said two episodes' rating in Seoul also reached 8.5 percent and 9.9 percent, respectively.
Following "Ruler: Master of the Mask" and "Suspicious Partner" at third place is the KBS historical series "Queen for Seven Days." Aired on July 6, the said drama's recent episode achieved nationwide viewership shares of 4.6 percent.
In other news, Yoo Seung Ho and his fellow cast members recently shot the last scene needed for the MBC historical drama. "Ruler: Master of the Mask" ended its filming activities on June 30, Friday, Korean news outlet Star News reported.
The said production began filming in January where its cast and production team have had to deal with shooting outdoor scenes despite the cold weather. "Ruler: Master of the Mask" cast and crew member even celebrated the end of the long filming process with a wrap-up party held on July 3, Monday.
"Ruler: Master of the Mask" and "Suspicious Partner" will air its final episodes on July 12 and 13 on MBC and SBS, respectively. "Queen for Seven Days" is slated to end its 20-episode run on KBS in early August.
