Iranian President Hassan Rouhani Says South Korea And Iran Should Improve Ties To Promote Peace And Stability In East Asia And Middle East
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said during a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung Se on Saturday that the two countries have always preserved warm and developing ties.
Rouhani reportedly suggested that Iran and South Korea must develop its relations in order to encourage peace and stability in East Asia, as well as in Middle East, as noted by Press TV.
"Iran as a country with great capabilities and a significant position in the region and South Korea as an important country in East Asia have considerable capacities to expand relations in all fields such as in economic, cultural and political arenas," he said.
He added that the two countries should take advantage of the current situation to attain advancement.
The Iranian president is bullish that South Korea and Iran have the required potential to strengthen cultural, economic, scientific and tourist cooperation.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif revealed during the meeting that "Iran is willing to expand its cooperation (with South Korea) in all economic, political and parliamentary fields."
Iran Daily reported that the Iranian foreign minister said that Iran-South Korea joint economic commission can plan the ground for manufacturing goods and building joint investment in the energy, environment, banking, science and tourism sectors.
"Tehran and Seoul have good opportunities to expand consultations in the fields of human rights and the fight against terrorism," Zarif said.
On the other hand, South Korean Foreign Minister Yun reportedly said South Korea is keen in the further endorsement of ties with Iran.
Yun also said that finishing the nuclear agreement would contribute to the creation of international peace and security.
Reports have revealed that South Korea is looking forward to bolster trade and diplomatic ties with Iran, mainly after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) concludes.
Under the international agreement on nuclear, boundaries will be put on Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for a number of things which include lifting of all economic and financial bans over the Islamic Republic related to Iran's nuclear program.
