South Korean Actor Lee Jung Jae To Appear In War Film ‘Operation Chromite’ With Hollywood Star Liam Neeson
South Korean actor Lee Jung Jae is set to appear in a war film about US Army General Douglas McArthur. The Chosunilbo forecasted Nov. 7that Lee will join Hollywood star Liam Neeson for the film entitled "Operation Chromite."
"I'm so happy that I have a chance to work with Neeson, who is making his debut in a Korean film," Lee said. "I chose the film because it was based on a true story. I think it will be more like a spy film rather than a war film."
He went on, "I am looking forward to filming, and I'm very excited and anxious at the same time as I have high expectation for the film."
Variety reported Aug. 12 that "Operation Chromite" centers on the gallant Korean troopers who accomplished the "X-ray" operation that led the Incheon Landing act in the Yellow Sea during the Korean War.
Reports have revealed that the war film will be directed by Lee Jae Han, while Lee Man Hee is in-charge of the script, who have worked together for war film "71: Into the Fire."
"We plan to go into the production in late September with a production cost of 15 billion won (US$12.62 million)," Taewon Entertainment chief Jeong Tae Won revealed.
63-year-old Neeson will portray the role of General McArthur, while South Korean actor Lee will play as a Korean lieutenant in the navy.
The Hollywood actor has already appeared in a number of movies including "The Grey," "Unknown," "The Third Person" and a lot more.
Neeson made a name in the industry when he starred in Steven Speilberg's "Schindler's List" in 1993.
Meanwhile, South Korean actor Lee started as a fashion model began he entered the acting industry in 1993. He took the spotlight after he appeared in a South Korean film entitled "An Affair" in 1998.
Lee has also starred in a number of movies such as "Il Mare," "City of the Rising Sun," "The Last Witness," "Typhoon" and a lot more.
On the other hand, "Operation Chromite" is slated to hit the theaters sometime next year.
