‘Vikings’ Season 5: Executive Director Reveals Air Date
Fans have been waiting for the arrival of "Vikings" season 5 ever since season 4 concluded. Post-production of 'Vikings' season 5 reportedly began early this year in May itself. Unfortunately, History Channel hasn't given any information away that might even remotely indicate the possible release date for the show.
"Vikings" Executive Producer, Morgan O'Sullivan in a recent interview with IFTN has apparently spoken about the different stages of the filming of "Vikings" season 5. He stated that it has taken the team of "Vikings" almost a year in order to finish filming the drama series. He further went on to add how the team members of 'Vikings' have been planning on raising the bar of the production of the series since a very long time. Therefore, they even opted more locations to shoot several sequences of the fifth season by traveling across Ireland, Iceland, and Morocco as well.
He further went on to state that their intention each year is to try and raise the production quality of the drama series. In the process of raising the production value, the team members tried to make of things that were different from the previous shoots. They attempted at remaking and refashioning the characters and even tried making them look different.
In the process, the executive director revealed that they pushed the director, Stephen St. Leger to try doing out an episode for 'Vikings' season 5 and turned out, he was really good at it. He exceeded their expectations and thus, he was even given the opportunity to film four more episodes for the fifth season of 'Vikings.'
It is quite obvious that the executive producer was asked about when exactly they plan on premiering the fifth season of 'Vikings.' O'Sullivan to this replied by stating that they have had a talk with History Channel and it seems like the entertainment network plans on launching it before the year 2017 ends. He stated that the premiere of "Vikings" Season 5 will take place this year but they don't know when exactly. He stated that it will most probably be taking place towards the end of the year. But he clarified stating that the official air date hasn't been revealed yet and they hope that they will get hold of that soon.
Unfortunately, more details regarding the upcoming season of "Vikings" are still under wraps. What fans know for sure is that Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) is not going to make a comeback with the fifth season of 'Vikings.' The upcoming season will most primarily be focusing on Jonathan Rhys Meyers' character, Bishop Heahmund and the important role he plays in furthering the storyline of the fifth season.
